THE TERRITORY
Province of Viterbo, commonly called Alto Lazio, corresponds to the former "Legazione Pontificia" and includes Tuscia Territory.
Its economy is essentially based on agriculture and handicraft but surprisingly enough, lies in the area of Civita Castellana an industrial pole of development with a long tradition in ceramics, with a great number of firms and manufactures whose products are exported all over the world.
In the productive District of Civita Castellana there are 75 industries, with about 3.750 workers, specialized mainly in the production of sanitary and pottery.

Quantitatively, our Ceramics play a relevant role in the provincial economy, with a percentage of 52,8% on total exports and a 52% billing (corresponding to about 700 million euro).
Analytically, this amount is due in part to the sanitary ware compartment (56,6%), part to pottery (36,6%) and to other productive sectors (remaining 8,8%).
National level data say that our industrial area covers 39,6% of the industrial production and 43,6% as regards to the whole ceramic sector.
